Climbing/ Rambling Roses

Climbing roses or 'Climbers' are essentially rose bushes with long canes (6-8 ft) which are usually stiff. So they good on vertical structures as Pergolas and Columns. They bloom multiple times throughout the season. They are not as hardy as once blooming varieties except the roses of Canadian origin. They usually do suffer from cane damage if it goes down to -10 -20 degrees C. However, if taken care and protected, they do come back reliably every year but never gain the height of ramblers in the Okanagan. Many antique, modern and David Austin roses are classified as climbers. Rambling roses or 'Ramblers' have long canes (5-10 feet in length) that are flexible and can be wrapped around structures and trees. They usually bloom once for 2-3 weeks and are extremely hardy to Okanagan winters.
