ROSES OF THE PAST (Antiques and Older Modern varieties)

These roses belong to either from 19th Century or before (called antique roses). I also do include some modern roses that are found rarely in Canada and have become scarce over last few decades but are awesome roses. They have been named as 'Older Classics'.  Of course many roses from this era still are produced in large numbers and have not been included (like Fragrant Cloud). The truly antique roses are usually tough as nails and have survived for decades in old gardens, churches and cemeteries with little or no care. These roses are having a revival in recent years because of their historical and nostalgic values as well as their perfume! They may be once or repeat bloomers depending on the variety. In this section, only varieties that are dependably cold hardy for the Okanagan at least with protection and the Lower Mainland are included. None of the roses (except Peace) are propagated in large scale and are ALWAYS in short supply.
